Brittas Bay node (not active anymore) - Client node

Ok. Sitting on the roof isn't that easy. Sometimes it's just not easy to setup a new client. Here are a few pictures from when Uwe and I did a client setup on the roof top of an old cottage in Wicklow. We needed both to get on the roof to get the cable for the mounting adjustet properly around the chimney. Once that was fitted, it could be done by one man.
The wire get's tension, so that it sits as tight as possible to the chimney. We don't want the pole to move too much. The mounting needs to sit as tight as possible to the chimney.
Now the pole get's mounted. The pole get's mounted. It's a pretty simple setup, where we just used a 2 meters long piece of pipe.
Ok. Don't loose any bracket or so, when you are sitting on the rooftop. That is just annoying. Don't loose any of the brackets !
Ok, we didn't put the brackets on the antenna the right way. Has to be fixed. We actually found out, that the antenna was mounted the wrong way. The brackets have to get off and put together the right way.
Finally. The antenna is getting mounted on the pole. And on the pole she goes.
Just getting the antenna roughly adjusted. And roughly getting adjusted.
From another angle. From another angle.
Ok, usually you don't use that much cable, but it was, what we had handy. Ok, usually you don't need 30 feet of cable, but it was what we had handy and for testing purposes it should just fit. For 2.4 GHz that is ok, with 5.8 GHz you would loose way too much signal.
Now we've got the connection, there is a notebook on the other end. The antenna is being tuned in. Now that we've got the connection, the antenna is being tuned in.
Nice little corner to surf the Internet, heh ?. Nice little corner to surf the Internet, heh ?.
